Patient Testimonial
Karl began his battle with MS almost 20 years ago. The progressive nature of his
disease left him reliant upon bracing devices, AFO’s, to assist with his everyday
walking. While through the years he was able to find better AFO’s that helped him
walk without tripping, he describes muscle atrophy and day to day struggles with
walking. His wife relates the “pins and needles” feeling of worry any time her husband
left her side.
MS is a devastating disease; progressively taking independence from its victims.
In an effort to add life to his years, Karl tried the WalkAide. As is often the
case with MS victims Karl responded well to WalkAide’s electrical stimulation. His
clinician describes improvement not only in terms of seeing Karl walk without his
AFO but also in relation to his overall walking pattern. His knee and hip, previously
unstable as they compensated for Karl's AFO, are now free to function as they should.
As you will hear in his voice, Karl is confident now; excited about feeling the
independence that the WalkAide has brought to him. His wife, Susan, is similarly
both excited and relieved – telling us that Karl now walks further with less effort
and is not so completely reliant upon her assistance.
