Many people who try WalkAide experience immediate and substantial improvement. The
trained medical professional who fits WalkAide will program the device to suit a patient’s individual needs for optimal effectiveness.

Who is a good candidate for WalkAide?
WalkAide is not appropriate for everyone. Individuals with a CNS injury: cerebrovascular accident, an incomplete spinal cord injury, a traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy may benefit from WalkAide.

Are there any contraicndications for WalkAide?
People with pacemakers or who suffer from seizures should not use WalkAide. People presenting with the following peripheral nervous system conditions will NOT benefit
from WalkAide:

• Secondary complications of back, hip or knee surgery
• Traumatic accidents to the leg
• Sciatica
• Peripheral neuropathy
• Spinal stenosis
• Post-polio syndrome
• Guillain-Barre

Does WalkAide require special footwear or clothing?
No, a highly sophistocated sensor eliminates the need for additional external wiring to insoles.
In fact, WalkAide may be worn barefoot or with slippers upon approval of a healthcare provider. WalkAide’s compact size means it can be worn discreetly under most clothing.

Is WalkAide covered by health insurance?
All health plan coverages vary. Patients should contact a representative of their individual health plan to confirm their policy regarding WalkAide.

How can someone get WalkAide?
A thorough evaluation by a specially trained medical professional, in conjunction with the rehabilitation team, will provide the final determination of appropriateness and potential effectiveness of WalkAide. The medical professional will evaluate and specifically test for functional foot/ankle movement via electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve. If the person is found to be a good candidate for WalkAide, trial fittings can verify effectiveness during this orthotic clinical examination.
