BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hanger Orthopedic Group,
Inc. (NYSE: HGR) named Jeff Martin the President of its wholly-owned
subsidiary, Innovative Neurotronics, Inc. (IN, Inc.).
Previously serving as Vice President and Managing Director of IN, Inc.
since its inception in February 2004, Martin successfully brought the
company's first product, the WalkAide(R), from concept through technical
design, manufacturing feasibility, regulatory approval, and clinical trials,
to commercialization. As President, Martin will have P&L responsibility for
the company's total business operations and will direct the expansion of the
company's product portfolio.
"Under Jeff's direction, Innovative Neurotronics successfully demonstrated
its ability to convert new technologies into viable products to improve the
lives of patients," Hanger President and COO Thomas Kirk said. "We are
confident Jeff's vision and leadership will establish IN, Inc. as the premiere
company delivering neuromuscular products for patients suffering from various
muscle impairments."
Specializing in the field of functional electrical stimulation, IN, Inc.
identifies emerging Myo-Orthotics Technologies(R) developed at research
centers and universities throughout the world that use neuromuscular
stimulation to improve the functionality of an impaired limb. Myo-Orthotics
Technology represents the merging of orthotic technology with electrical
stimulation. Working with the inventors, IN, Inc. advances the design and
manufacturing, the regulatory and clinical aspects of the technology, and then
introduces the devices to the marketplace through a variety of distribution
channels.
"Hanger's mission has always been to restore the mobility and independence
of our patients," Martin said. "Myo-Orthotics Technology advances that goal
by offering patients who would typically wear a brace to simply stabilize a
weakened limb, the advantage of actually using that limb in a natural,
controllable manner. I am very enthusiastic about Hanger's potential in this
revolutionary clinical area."
Martin brings 25 years of marketing and business management experience.
He joined Hanger in 1995 as the Vice President of its managed care network and
then advanced to Vice President of Product Development. Prior to his tenure
with Hanger, Martin held various marketing positions of increasing
responsibility within the O&P profession. He is a 1978 graduate of the Ohio
State University. Martin will continue to report to Kirk.
