Who is a good candidate for WalkAide?
WalkAide is not appropriate for everyone. Individuals with a CNS injury: cerebrovascular accident, an incomplete spinal cord injury, a traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy may benefit from WalkAide.
Are there any contraicndications for WalkAide?
People with pacemakers or who suffer from seizures should not use WalkAide. People presenting with the following peripheral nervous system conditions will NOT benefit from WalkAide
- Secondary complications of back, hip or knee surgery
- Traumatic accidents to the leg
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Spinal stenosis
- Post-polio syndrome
Does WalkAide require special footwear or clothing?
No, a highly sophistocated sensor eliminates the need for additional external wiring to insoles. In fact, WalkAide may be worn barefoot or with slippers upon approval of a healthcare provider. WalkAide’s compact size means it can be worn discreetly under most clothing.
